On July 25, 2023, President NAGATA Kyosuke of our university, who also serves as the President of the Japan Association of National Universities, received the "Second Class Medal for Contributions to the Field of Education" from the Taiwan Ministry of Education. This marks the first time a university president from Japan has received this honor.
During the 2023 Taiwan-Japan University Presidents' Forum held at Taiwan's National Chi Nan University, President NAGATA was recognized for his significant contributions to higher education exchanges between Taiwan and Japan over the years. During his term as the Chairperson of the Japan Committee of Universities for International Exchange, he played a crucial role in initiating the Taiwan-Japan University Presidents' Forum seven years ago. Additionally, his efforts as the President of the University of Tsukuba in fostering collaborations with various Taiwanese universities further contributed to his well-deserved recognition and the conferment of this prestigious medal.

The recognition of President Nagata's achievements is expected to enhance and promote even more collaboration and exchanges between Taiwan and Japan in the future.
