On February 15, 2024, Mr. Gerson Msigwa, Permanent Secretary of Tanzania's Ministry of Arts, Culture and Sports, and Mr. Leodegar Chilla Tenga, Chair of the National Sports Council of Tanzania, along with five others, visited our Tsukuba campus. They held discussions with President NAGATA Kyosuke, Vice President/Executive Director IKEDA Jun (Global Affairs), Executive Officer OHNEDA Osamu (Director-General, Bureau of Global Initiatives), Director SAKURAI Takeaki (Office of Global Initiatives), Professor TAKAGI Hideki (Director-General, Bureau of Physical Education and Sports), Professor Emeritus SANADA Hisashi, and from the Institute of Health and Sport Sciences, Professor Rakwal Randeep and Assistant Professor NAGATA Shinichi.

During the meeting, they exchanged views on the possibilities of collaboration between Tanzanian institutions and our university, especially in the fields of Physical Education teacher training, sports medicine, and women's participation in sports.
The delegation included Mr. Leonard Thadeo Katunzi, who completed our TIAS (Tsukuba International Academy for Sport Studies) program. He and his former academic supervisor, Professor SANADA caught up and renewed their old friendship. It was impressive to see that he was playing a vital role as a bridge between his home country and his alma mater.

Afterward, the delegation visited facilities and laboratories of our Institute of Health and Sport Sciences, such as the wind tunnel laboratory, the Sport Performance and Clinical Lab (SPEC), and the soccer field, where they saw our soccer club team practiced.

Further collaboration between Tanzanian institutions and our university is expected.
