MoU Signed with Al-Farabi Kazakh National University to Establish Seismology Research Center

On August 25, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony was held between Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the University of Tsukuba regarding the establishment of the "Seismology and Exogenous Geodynamics Research Center" (hereinafter "Seismology Research Center") affiliated with Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

Attending the ceremony from Al-Farabi Kazakh National University were Chairman of the Board - Rector Janseit Tuimebayev, Visiting Professor NINOMIYA Takashi, and Counselor Anuarbek Kalashev from the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Japan. Representing the University of Tsukuba were President NAGATA Kyosuke, Professor USUYAMA Toshinobu (Dean of the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences), and Associate Professor KAJIYAMA Yuji (Office of Global Initiatives).

The event included the signing of the MoU for the joint establishment of the Seismology Research Center, the renewal of the Campus-in-Campus (CiC) agreement, as well as the unveiling ceremony of the "Guide to Kazakh Grammar" (published by CEGLOC). It provided a valuable opportunity to further demonstrate the strong partnership between the two universities.

During the discussions, Rector Tuimebayev expressed his expectations for the development of seismological research and related technologies through the new Seismology Research Center, as well as for the development of young researchers in Kazakhstan. In response, President NAGATA reflected on the long-standing and close exchanges between the two institutions, concluding with his hope that the day's signing would serve as a foundation for further collaboration and progress.
